What 40 Weeks Pregnant Looks Like | Abigail’s Story

I made it to full term in this pregnancy – YAY! This is what 40 weeks pregnant looks like! I’m big, I’m uncomfortable, and I’m a jumble of emotions leading up to the birth of my second baby. But I can’t deny I’m very excited to meet him or her!

I am super nervous as my doctor has told me today that I haven’t dilated anymore than I was last week. I have another appointment booked and then if nothing is happening then I will be induced a few days after that appointment. I am thankful that my doctor knows that we wish to try to keep our birthing experience as natural as possible, so she’s given me a few days after that last appointment to go into natural labour before inducing me.

So, immediately after that appointment I took my toddler, Annaliese, for a stroller ride in the river valley and it was not a walk in the park (it was a dirt trail rollercoaster). Up hills, down steep hills (thankfully I had the brake on our jogging stroller to help me out), and then up a monster hill. Half way into our walk I was experiencing some painful cramping but I walked through it because in my brain if it hurts then I am that much closer to my baby.

Walking, bouncing on exercise balls, and drinking raspberry leaf tea are now my lifesavers. Though I am equally open to being induced as I am having a c-section, my only focus is to help this baby be born healthy and strong. Any prayers would be fantastic this week – for me and my baby!

P.S check out our fresh baby GIRL, Abigail.
